Guestbook

Kept for old times’ sake, and switched off for new ones.

This guestbook ran from 2004-ish on a different domain and followed me here in 2023. For most of those years it held maybe forty real messages and one argument about editors that I still think I won.

I closed it in the spring of 2024. The last three weeks it was open, it took on about two hundred entries a day, none of them written by a person: links to things I will not repeat, and praise so generic it could have been bolted to any page on the web. Reading a form that only robots fill in is a strange way to feel watched, so I turned the handle off and left the box bolted to the wall.

The form below is still here because deleting it felt like painting over a doorway. It does nothing. Nothing you type leaves this page, nothing is written down, and no one - me included - will ever read it. If you press the button it will tell you so.

If you actually want to reach me, the contact page has the one mail address, and it reaches a person rather than a text file. Corrections to the notes are the mail I most like getting.
