Nothing at this address

No redirect and no search box. The site is small and flat enough to print in full, and the address you tried was not on it:

• Home — who I am, in four paragraphs
• Work — fourteen years by year, and what a job looks like
• Notes — the index and the machines every measurement was taken on; there is an Atom feed too
  • What an idle login costs
  • Where 118 wakeups a second came from
  • Letting the disks sleep
  • Taking four cores offline buys almost nothing
  • The idle loop is not free
  • What four governors cost at idle
• Reading — subjects rather than titles
• Uses — the two machines, the meter and the software
• Now — current job and availability, with an archive of older ones
• Contact — one address and what to put in it
• Guestbook - switched off since 2024, kept as a doorway

If a link of mine sent you here, that is my fault to fix: the broken address is still in your browser bar, and a one-line mail with it pasted in is a favour, not a bother. I have moved exactly one page since 2023 and apparently did not catch every reference to it.
